Culture of Illusion – No. 2857

rosa parks seat

On this day in 1913, Rosa Parks was born. In December of 1955, that very same Rosa Parks, tired of giving in and ready to make a stand for a cause she believed in, refused to move to the back of the bus. 100 years later I, a white caucasian of foreign extraction, sat in an empty bus, on the way to work, next to this sign. I don’t know what this means but I am not sure whether a plaque is just recompense for anything. Does this mean that racism has been solved and fixed? I have my doubts. I have my doubts. Some kind of horrible metaphorical circle has just been completed.
