Just so we’re clear Ant Man is getting his own movie. Basically a steroid version of Honey I Shrunk the Kids is coming to the Big Screen (ironic in itself) and yet Storm, a superhero who can freaking control every single aspect of weather, not only doesn’t have a spinoff movie, but doesn’t even have real screen time in All Three X-Men Movies.


This is problematic.

Four out of 5 U.S. adults struggle with joblessness, near poverty or reliance on welfare for at least parts of their lives, a sign of deteriorating economic security and an elusive American dream.

Although the undercurrent of the piece seems to be that it’s a problem now because white people are suffering which, it seems, is an awful indictment on manner in which the reporting of poverty happens.

Normal if it’s African-Americans and Hispanics who are suffering – that’s just their normal state of being but if it’s whites suffering – OH MY GOD – now let’s do something about it.

Unsurprising that this is the manner in which the problem is approached but no less hideous for all that.
