Manning judge alters charges to assist Gov’t ahead of verdict

July 28, 2013. By Nathan Fuller and Jeff Paterson. Military Judge Col. Denise Lind has allowed the government to change its charge sheet for the ‘theft’ offenses at the eleventh hour, adding yet another layer of injustice to Bradley Manning’s court martial. The defense has filed a motion to declare a mistrial on the theft charges, arguing that this late change irreparably prejudices PFC Manning.

Will it be thrown out of court? Doubtful – but this seemingly last minute change to meanings of words does seem a little problematic.
