Appetite for Distraction – Just Love.

A friend shared this video with me this morning.

So I thought I would share it here.

Marina Abramovic and Ulay started an intense love story in the 70s, performing art out of the van they lived in. When they felt the relationship had run its course, they decided to walk the Great Wall of China, each from one end, meeting for one last big hug in the middle and never seeing each other again.

They met again in 2010.

It is beautiful.

I have watched it three times already.

I have cried three times already.

But in a good way.

    1. It is isn’t it?

I rather wish that there hadn’t been the audience there ogling them. But then I guess we’re doing the same by watching it on the internet. And I suppose that’s all part of the point of the lady’s art piece.
It makes me cry every time I watch it. You can see the intensity of their love combined with their almost insane stubborness to fulfil their artistic visions in that moment COMBINED with the knowledge that they do still love one another dearly and could probably spend a perfectly happy life together.

As you can see I’m losing the ability to express myself because everything that needs to be expressed is expressed in the moment as filmed and my words become a barrier rather than a bridge.

      And those sneakers are cool.

      Art, love, cool sneakers, integrity.
All the important things are there.
